Terms of Service

LAST UPDATED SEPTEMBER 16, 2026

The rules for using EQUATOR. Written plainly, and deliberately honest about what a one-person platform can and cannot promise — there is no uptime guarantee here, because there is no uptime guarantee to give. If your program has signed a separate written agreement with EQUATOR, that agreement governs where the two differ.

Who is agreeing to what

These terms govern your use of EQUATOR, at equatorfootball.com and its subdomains. EQUATOR Football is based in Syracuse, New York.

By creating an account, using the platform, or claiming a player profile, you agree to these terms. If you are a coach or administrator signing up on behalf of a program, you confirm you are authorised to agree on that program's behalf.

Some programs sign a separate written agreement with EQUATOR covering their specific arrangement. Where that agreement and this page disagree, the signed agreement governs for that program.

Accounts

Your program's administrator creates and removes staff accounts. Keep your login to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account.

Accounts are for the people they are issued to. Do not share one across a staff — the platform records who did what, and shared logins make that record worthless to your own program before they cause us any problem.

Tell us promptly if you think an account has been compromised.

Acceptable use

Use EQUATOR for running your program. Specifically, do not:

  • Access data belonging to a program you are not part of, or attempt to work around the access controls that separate programs from each other.
  • Scrape, bulk-export, or systematically extract data from the platform, whether by script or by hand. The one exception is your own program's own data, which you are entitled to and which we will help you export if you ask.
  • Upload information about a player you have no legitimate reason to hold, or enter data about a minor without the authority to do so.
  • Use another program's recruiting preferences, position needs, or roster information for any purpose other than your own recruiting and scheduling decisions.
  • Misrepresent who you are, which program you work for, or a player's identity, measurables, or eligibility.
  • Attempt to break, overload, or probe the platform's security, or interfere with anyone else's use of it.
  • Resell access, or use the platform to provide a competing service.

Player data and the responsibility that comes with it

If you enter or manage information about players, particularly players under 18, you are responsible for having the right to do so and for keeping it accurate. High school rosters contain data about minors, and the platform's purpose is to make some of that data visible to college coaching staff.

Do not use a player's contact details, film, or profile for anything other than legitimate recruiting and program operations. Do not pass a player's information on to a third party through the platform or outside it.

If a player, or a parent or guardian, asks you to remove their information, remove it — or tell us and we will.

Availability

We aim to keep EQUATOR running and available, and we will not pretend to more than that. EQUATOR is built and operated by one person. There is no guaranteed uptime, no service level agreement, and no 24-hour support desk.

The platform may be unavailable for maintenance, for an outage at a service provider we depend on, or because something broke. We may change, add, or remove features. When a change materially affects how you work, we will tell account holders rather than let you discover it.

Some parts of the platform depend on information published by third parties — college athletic department roster pages, for example. When one of those sites changes or blocks automated access, the feature that relied on it degrades. We would rather show you nothing in that situation than show you stale numbers presented as current.

If we ever discontinue EQUATOR entirely, we will give account holders reasonable notice and a way to export their data before access ends.

Your data belongs to you

Your program's roster, your coaching grades, your recruiting preferences, your notes — that is yours. Signing up does not transfer ownership of it to us.

You give us permission to store and process it so the platform can work: computing scores, running projections, sending the emails you asked for, and showing it to the people at your program. Where the platform is designed to show something to other programs — a high school player's profile being visible to college coaching staff, for instance — that is part of what you are signing up for, and the privacy policy sets out exactly what is shared and with whom.

You can ask for a copy of your data or ask us to delete it at any time. We will do it.

Aggregate, de-identified information derived from platform-wide data — conference-wide median heights and weights, for example — is ours to use in operating the platform. That aggregation contains nothing that identifies any player or program.

Our software belongs to us

The platform itself — the code, the design, the scoring models, the EQUATOR name and marks — is ours. Using the platform does not give you rights to any of it beyond using it as intended.

We publish plain-language documentation of every scoring equation because a coach making decisions on a number deserves to know how it was calculated. Publishing how something works is not a licence to reimplement it.

What the scores are, and what they are not

EQUATOR produces statistical scores, projections, and flags. Every one of them is documented, including its limitations and the cases where it returns a neutral result for want of data, and that documentation is part of the product rather than a disclaimer attached to it.

They are decision support, not decisions. A valuation score is not a prediction of future performance. A portal risk flag tracks one motive among many and cannot see playing time, coaching changes, or personal circumstances. A fit score knows nothing about film, character, or whether a program has money left. A financial projection is a planning figure, not a commitment.

Use them alongside your own judgement and your own eyes. Do not substitute them for either, and do not rely on them as the sole basis for a roster, scholarship, or recruiting decision.

Fees

Paid plans are billed as set out when your program signs up. Founding-program rates are locked for as long as the program remains on the platform continuously.

High school program accounts are free, and we intend to keep them that way.

The refund policy sets out when a refund applies and how to ask for one.

Ending it

You can stop using EQUATOR at any time. Contact us to close your program's account, and tell us whether you want your data exported, deleted, or both.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms — particularly one accessing another program's data or misusing player information. Where the circumstances allow it, we will raise the problem with you before acting.

When an account closes, the sections of these terms that are meant to survive it do: the limitation of liability, the ownership provisions, and the governing law clause below.

Disclaimer of warranties

EQUATOR is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its data will be complete or accurate.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties. Where that is the case, the exclusions above apply only to the extent the law permits.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, EQUATOR Football and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost recruits, lost data, or loss of goodwill, arising from your use of the platform.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the platform is limited to the greater of the amount your program paid EQUATOR in the twelve months before the claim arose, or one hundred US dollars.

Nothing here limits liability for anything that cannot lawfully be limited, including fraud or wilful misconduct.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify EQUATOR Football against claims, losses, and reasonable legal costs arising from your breach of these terms, from information you entered that you had no right to enter, or from your use of another party's data obtained through the platform.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. EQUATOR Football is headquartered in Syracuse, New York.

Any dispute arising from these terms or from your use of the platform will be brought in the state or federal courts located in the State of New York, and you and we each consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.

Before filing anything, email us. EQUATOR is small enough that a direct conversation with the person who built the thing resolves almost every problem faster than a process would.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When a change materially affects your rights or obligations, we will update the date at the top and notify account holders by email. Continuing to use the platform after a change means you accept the updated terms.

If you do not accept a change, you can close your account and ask us to delete or export your data.
